Ambassador Kenzo Oshima
Kenzo OSHIMA is currently the Managing Director of the Africa Society of Japan, Special Advisor to the Hiroshima University President, and a guest professor at the Kwansei Gakuin University. Previously, he has held numerous senior positions as a Japanese diplomat, including Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations, Secretary-General of the Secretariat for International Peace Cooperation Headquarters in the Office of the Prime Minister, Senior-Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, and Commissioner of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (established after the Fukushima nuclear accident). He was posted in Australia, France, India, New York, and Washington. He was also appointed as the United Nation’s Under-Secretary -General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator.
Professor Owen Greene
Owen GREENE is Professor of International Security and Development, and Director of Research and Knowledge Transfer, at the Division of Peace Studies and International Development at the University of Bradford (UK). He is an internationally recognized expert on issues of conflict and security, and is in high demand as a consultant or special advisor for the United Nations, OSCE, EU, UK and many governments and multilateral policy negotiations and meetings on such issues. He is also co-founder and Board member of several NGOs working on these issues, including Chair of the NGO Saferworld. He has extensive and recent experience with conducting and overseeing projects relating to conflict and conflict prevention in Eastern Europe, Africa, Central, South and East Asi, and the Caribbean.
